He pursued advanced training in Cardiology at the University of Vienna, Pulmonary and Critical Care at the Mayo Clinic (USA), Sleep Medicine at Mayo Clinic Rochester, and Lung Transplantation at UNH, Toronto, Canada.
Dr. Kanwar began his journey in Critical Care Medicine during his time as a Consultant and Assistant Professor in large teaching hospitals abroad, managing complex ICU cases involving Sepsis, Shock, and Mechanical Ventilation.
He has made noteworthy contributions to research in Sleep Disorders and Bronchoscopy and has delivered numerous academic presentations across India and the United States.
With over 33 years of teaching experience, he has mentored many DNB students and Post-Doctoral Fellowship candidates in Respiratory, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Kanwar has served as a thesis guide and examiner for various fellowship examinations conducted by esteemed medical institutions.
He is an active member of several professional bodies, including the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Medical Council of India, American College of Chest Physicians, Austrian Medical Society, Indian Sleep Disorder Association, Indian Critical Care Society, Indian Association for Bronchology, Indian Chest Society, and the National College of Chest Physicians.
