About Dr. Sumit Mrig

Dr. Sumit Mrig is an accomplished ENT Surgeon in New Delhi.
He is regarded as one of India and Asia's youngest Cochlear Implant Surgeons.
He has over 22 years of extensive experience and has performed over 500 cochlear implant surgeries in the last ten years.
Dr. Mrig has performed implant surgeries on patients from countries all across the world, including Kenya, Sudan, Rwanda, Bangladesh, Iraq, Turkmenistan, Russia, Ethiopia, and Nigeria.
He is the first Indian surgeon to start an independent cochlear implant program in Africa.
He pioneered binaural cochlear implantation in India, leading the team that performed the country's first binaural cochlear implant surgery.
Dr. Mrig specializes in treating deaf patients through BAHA implants, cochlear implants, and bone bridge devices.
He has expertise in treating vertigo, sleep apnea, and snoring.
The doctor is well-versed in procedures like sialendoscopy, which removes salivary gland stones, and anterior and lateral skull base surgeries.
Dr. Mrig completed his MBBS from the University College of Medical Sciences and Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, New Delhi, in 2002.
Later, he specialized in managing ear, nose, and throat disorders, completing an MS and DNB in ENT from Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, in 2007 and 2008, respectively.
He has also been trained in cochlear implantation under Prof. Mario Sana, Gruppo Otologica, Piacenza, Italy.
Dr. Mrig received additional training at Singapore General Hospital to treat snoring and sleep apnea.
He has a strong academic background, having served as a reviewer for international ENT journals and contributed to numerous international publications.
Dr. Mrig has authored a temporal bone dissection manual to aid in training ENT surgeons.
He was recently honored with the "Bharat Excellence Award" for his significant contributions to addressing deafness across India.
He is a member of the Cochlear Implant Group of India, the Association of Otolaryngologists of India, and the National Academy of Medical Sciences.
