About Dr. T.S. KLER

  • Dr. T. S. Kler is a Padma Bhushan awardee and a globally recognized Interventional Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist with over 49 years of experience.
  • He has performed more than 35,000 procedures, including coronary, renal, carotid, and peripheral angioplasties.
  • A pioneer in cardiac electrophysiology, he established India’s first electrophysiology department at a premier hospital in Delhi.
  • He was the first in India to implant ICD, CRT-P, and CRT-D devices, and also the first Indian cardiologist to perform HIS Bundle Pacing in 2015.
  • Dr. Kler played a key role in initiating RF ablation and Cardiac Device Implantation Programs in India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan.
  • He earned his MBBS from Government Medical College and Hospital, Patiala (1976), followed by MD (Internal Medicine) and DM (Cardiology) from PGIMER, Chandigarh (1980 and 1983 respectively).
  • In 1993, he completed a Fellowship in Electrophysiology and Pacing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, USA.
  • He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), Edinburgh and the American College of Cardiology (FACC).
  • Dr. Kler has trained over 300 doctors in the field of interventional cardiology and electrophysiology.
  • He has published around 150 articles in various national and international journals.
  • A frequent speaker and faculty member at major cardiology conferences, including HRS and ACC, he has been invited to lecture in countries like USA, France, Australia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Singapore, and Pakistan.
  • He was honored with the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 2005 for his outstanding contribution to medicine.
  • Other recognitions include the D.Sc (Honoris Causa) from Punjab University, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Indian Medical Association, the Times Healthcare Achievers Award: Legend of Medicine, and the Delhi Medical Association Centenary Award.
  • Dr. Kler is an active member of several prestigious medical societies, including the Heart Rhythm Society of India, the Cardiological Society of India, the American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology, the Indian College of Cardiology, and the American College of Cardiology.
