Coronary Angioplasty & Stenting
A catheter-based procedure that reopens narrowed heart arteries and holds them open with a stent.
Angioplasty widens a narrowed coronary artery using a small balloon, and a stent is usually left in place to keep it open. It is performed through a small puncture in the wrist or groin, without open surgery.
Recovery
Most patients stay one or two nights and return to light activity within a week. Blood-thinning medicines and cardiac rehabilitation are an important part of recovery.
