Total Knee Replacement
Replacing a worn knee joint with an implant to relieve pain and restore movement.
Total knee replacement removes damaged joint surfaces and replaces them with a metal and plastic implant. It is most often done for advanced arthritis when pain limits walking and daily life.
Recovery
Walking with support usually begins within a day of surgery. Physiotherapy continues for several weeks, and most people return to routine activity within six to twelve weeks.
